The N.S.O

Sheffield four-piece The N.S.O have been building their own lane since forming in 2022. Fronted by dual vocalists and songwriters Reece Howe and Josh Tallis, alongside Jordan Watkin on drums and Simon Barton on bass, the band blend gritty indie rock with blues, soul, funk and touches of punk and hip-hop. The result is a sound that can be raw and swaggering one minute and huge and melodic the next. Their music has already picked up support from John Kennedy on Radio X, while singles including ‘Do Ya’, ‘Thick As You’ and ‘Sunday Club’ have helped them build a growing audience, with the latter described as a high-energy anthem driven by thrashing guitars, pounding drums and powerful vocals.

Away from the studio, The N.S.O have put serious miles into their live show, playing festivals including Tramlines, Bunkerfest, Doncaster Summer of Love, Be Reyt and Barnsley Live, as well as supporting Mark Morris and Neville Staple and working with This Feeling. They’ve also sold out their own headline shows in Sheffield, developing a reputation for a high-energy set that matches the ambition of their recordings. 2026 has seen the band step things up further, with a run of new material including ‘Release Me’ and the Drifting Away, Dead Men and The Illusion of Happiness EPs. With a distinctive sound, a strong live following and a growing catalogue behind them, The N.S.O are now ready to take what they’ve built in Sheffield to a much wider audience.
