The Leadmill Presents: Pete McKee’s Youth Club Disco

After a completely sold-out debut that had the dance floor heaving from start to finish, Youth Club Disco returns for Round Two – and trust us when we say the sequel is set to raise the bar even higher.
Once again, we’re teaming up with Sheffield legend Pete McKee, turning back the clocks to the glory days with Youth Club Disco. The first event was a true night of nostalgia and felt like every youth club memory came roaring back to life. It was a celebration of simpler days, killer tunes and dancing without a care in the world – now we’re honoured to bring it back and do it all again for the final time at The Leadmill.
Four hours of chart-topping hits, cult classics and no-frills throwbacks to the memories forged in the youth clubs of the 70s and 80s, where no problem couldn’t be solved by a stint next to the turntable. If last time is anything to go by, you’ll barely have a chance to leave the dance floor.
Pete will be personally spinning choice cuts from his extensive vinyl collection on the night, alongside Leadmill veteran DJ Adam Morley. Together, they’ll be sound tracking a night that’s more than just a party, it’s a full-blown time warp.
Our exclusive games room featuring vintage arcade machines will be making a comeback, alongside Sheffield staple, Granelli’s who are providing our very own retro tuck shop.
If you were at the first event, you know just how special it was. If you missed it, this is your chance to come and see what all the fuss was about. Let’s bring it all back, one more time within the walls of The Leadmill and make it a night to remember.

A message from Pete McKee
Youth Club Disco: 1977-87
As part of my current exhibition at Weston Park Museum I wanted to create a club night that celebrated the glorious period in history when a multitude of subcultures rubbed shoulders with each other – a period that made watching Top of the Pops worthwhile just to grab a precious few minutes of seeing your heroes perform their hits. This was a time when a trip to the Youth Club was a great opportunity to style yourself like your heroes, whether that was The Jam, The Pistols, Neuman, The Smiths, The Specials, The Cure, Dexy’s, or the plethora of many great bands that came with very individual dress codes. Back then, never the twain should meet, but now we can appreciate a banger when we hear one, no matter the genre. I want this event to be a great excuse to get dressed in your best tucker, have a dance and relive those glory days.
