Description

We’re very excited to share with you our limited edition electric guitars, hand-made from the Leadmill’s iconic, reclaimed maple wood dance floor that was in place from the 80’s through to 2017.

These guitars have been designed based on the renowned Fender Telecaster design that has been popular for well over 50 years, incorporating the very last pieces of our historic dancefloor into the main body of the design.

This really is the perfect opportunity to own your own very special and unique piece of Leadmill history for the music lovers amongst us.

Guitar Spec:

Although the top surface of the boards are dark from decades of dancing, the wood is in fact a beautiful Canadian Maple, which has been used for some models of Telecaster bodies. As the boards were not quite thick enough to complete a 43mm width body, Ash was used for the back, topped with the Maple.

The neck of the guitars are also Maple, with a matching fingerboard (radius of 12″, contemporary neck profile and 22 medium jumbo frets) and a 2-way adjustable truss rod installed, with the adjustment at the head to enable for more practicality than the traditional heel adjustment – which requires the neck to be removed in order to adjust the truss rod.

DiMarzio Twang King single coil unit pickups have been fitted, which offer a classic Telecaster sound with fantastic responsiveness and higher output than many other single coil pickups.

In order to permit more output and a variety of tones, the control panel is fitted with a 4-way Oak Grigsby switch. This gives the option of connecting both pickups in series in addition to the standard 3 Tele settings. CTS 250K “vintage” volume and tone pots are used and a 0.047 mfd tone capacitor.

Both the body and the neck have a beautiful satin finish to match the aesthetics of the floorboard tops. The tuners are Gotoh SD91 Vintage style, and the bridge is a Kluson contemporary, which allows much better control of action and intonation than the traditional Telecaster bridge.

These guitars are part of an extremely limited run by Sheffield based luthier James Lister. Originally trained in laser physics, James studied guitar making in London before moving to Neward College for further study, where he now delivers tuition himself, and tends to use little machinery instead focussing on hand tools and traditional methods.

James makes a range of guitars – from classical to flamenco, steel string and electric. He completed his 100th guitar in 2015.
