The next chapter for The Leadmill

In 2015 The Leadmill celebrated its 35th birthday. Throughout the year we reflected on our 35 years of business and our origins as an arts and entertainment venue in Sheffield. We looked through hundreds of old photos and listened to people from across the world talk about their love for The Leadmill. We learnt how they met their partners on the dancefloor, witnessed their favourite band play our stage and brought their children to their first gig here. A lot has happened in these walls and to continue to operate as the successful business that it is, The Leadmill needs to reinvest back into its foundations as a creative hub in Sheffield whilst also evolving as a business.

Over the next few years you will see The Leadmill go through 3 stages of refurbishment. The Leadmill always has events booked in the diary for at least a year ahead, because of this we have had to work around numerous events and complete the refurbishment of different areas at separate times.

In June you will see work begin on our bar in the main room, opening up the space to create better viewpoints for gigs, improved bar layout and design and addition of new seating areas. Keeping true to our Sheffield independent roots we are using local designers and suppliers to work on the refurbishment project, keeping the work and money within Sheffield.

Please bear with us during this time, as areas of the venue may be closed off at events whilst building work takes place. We hope the disruption will be worth the wait and you love the changes to The Leadmill as much as we do.

Keep an eye on our website for updates and photos on our stages of refurbishment.

Many thanks
